The body of a 22-year-old Netflix software engineer, who had gone missing last month, was discovered, as announced by officials on Wednesday.

Yohanes Kidane’s family reported that he was last been seen on August 14, entering an Uber in front of his San Jose apartment.

On August 29, an unresponsive individual was located floating in the San Francisco Bay to the northeast of the Golden Gate Bridge, according to a statement from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. Subsequently, the coroner confirmed that the deceased was Kidane.

The Marin County Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division received a notification from the California Highway Patrol at approximately 11:40 a.m. on August 29. The notification indicated that an unconscious and unresponsive individual had been discovered by a passing boat in the San Francisco Bay, northeast of the Golden Gate Bridge.

In a news release, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office disclosed, “The cause of death was determined to be from blunt impact injuries with drowning as a significant contributing condition. The mode of death was determined to be suicide.”

Relatives had previously informed NBC Bay Area that Kidane had recently graduated from Cornell University and had recently relocated to the Bay Area to commence his employment with Netflix.
